The traditional Gaucho hats is a felt hat with a wide flat brim and shallow flat-topped crown. It’s one of the most common items used in typical Gaucho wear. The Gaucho hat was the main article of clothing used by Gauchos in the early 19th century to work on the South American ranges. The gaucho sombrero is usually black and is sometimes worn with the brim turned up against the windy conditions to ward off the chill; gauchos wear a woolen poncho woven into beautiful patterns that designate their origin. A Gaucho’s demeanor was portrayed as welcoming to common travelers who were in need of shelter or food, but typically kept to themselves due to the nomadic lifestyle.
